Earwax

Today I subbed in 2nd grade. One of the little boys was having great difficulty being good in class. I did not pull his ticket, but came close. I gave him a warning and told him that if he did not straighten up I would pull his ticket. I then sent the whole class to PE. About 15 minutes later he came back to me and he was crying hysterically. When I asked him what was wrong he told me that the coach had pulled his ticket to red in PE. I asked why. This is the reply he gave me. "Mrs. Nichols, my earwax got in the way of being able to hear the coach say I could not hang on the net, so it was not my fault, and he pulled my ticket to red anyway." I tried not to laugh and told him to pull his ticket to red and that it was a complete bummer that earwax could cause him to have such a bad day! This is the best excuse I have heard all year! I love my job!
